Uncompromisingly modern, and indeed a footprint toward enlightenment. Massing and layout are orthogonally arranged, boasting an interplay of light and dark, purposefully monastic in feeling.
The house’s program is arranged as a series of self-contained “pods”, opening off a single corridor. Smaller passages render extended interior and external vistas, all surrounded by reflective waters. A semi-central pool houses sculpture and viewing accessibility, and offers cooling in warmer months.
The program contains three suites for rest and study with private patios, a library, meditation room, laundry facility, spacious kitchen and living rooms. The dining room offers two walls of operable glazing that opens to extend dining capacity at the rear, and opens for pool viewing toward the front. There is a sunken outdoor meditation/relaxation space just off the living room with fire pit at center for warmth in colder seasons.
Public spaces invite communal engagement, as private quarters are marked for the enrichment of rest and private functions.
